Millefiori Pendants have been the classic tradition of Venetian Glass Jewelry for centuries. Millefiori means thousand flowers (mille is thousand and fiori is flowers) in Italian and became named as a result of the small colorful slices of glass canes which create each pendant. These canes of colorful cross-sectional images are made in Murano in the same traditions of Murano glass for centuries.
The Millefiori pendants are created by fusing small slices of the Effetre Moretti glass canes together creating the patterns. These Murano jewelry pieces appear as small stain glass windows and are set in beautiful silver/gold-over-silver mountings. A Venetian jewelry tradition which was reintroduced in the 20th century by local craftspeople. The settings of each of these is gold plate over .925 sterling silver. As they are handmade, no two are ever exactly alike.
